I have received a lot of email from people asking about my experience with Dr. Jon Weingart, the neurosurgeon who performed
my decompression surgery.
I found Dr. Weingart to be a warm, friendly, caring, and knowledgeable doctor. He's also very
tall, LOL. During my appointment, he explained to me exactly what Chiari Malformation is, and he showed me on my MRI films
where the herniation was located.
He did a thorough neurological exam, and then told me his recommendations. He thoroughly
explained the decompression surgery to my husband and me. I can honestly say that I did not feel pushed or pressured in any
way to have this surgery done. Dr. Weingart left the decision up to me, as to whether or not I wanted to schedule the decompression
surgery.
I left his office feeling entirely confident about Dr. Weingart's abilities, and I felt that I would be in good
hands when I had the surgery done. I knew that Dr. Weingart was the neurosurgeon I wanted to perform my surgery, because
I felt that he was thoroughly educated and experienced with Chiari Malformation.
As I previously explained, here I am over
10 years later, and doing great. When I started having neck and shoulder pain in 2001, I found out that I had a herniated
disk in my neck between C6 and C7. I went to physical therapy for awhile, but the pain persisted. My regular doctor recommended
that I call a neurosurgeon, and I never had a second thought about who to call. I went to see Dr. Weingart, who was still
very tall, and he didn't let me down. In May of 2002, I had the herniated disk removed, and from the second I awoke from
surgery, the horrible pain was gone.
So, to anyone who may be wondering about Dr. Weingart's abilities, the bottom line
is, I highly recommend him.
